The agency was established in 1977 by John Foster. John started his Insurance Career with Nationwide Insurance as a Commercial Underwriter in 1971 after graduating from Virginia Tech. In 1977, he moved back to his hometown to open the Independent Insurance Agency.

Foster Insurance has grown steadily over the years to thirteen employees and two locations in Danville. The agency has established itself as being one of the leading agencies operating in Southside Virginia.
